Myositis and Horse Racing!

TMA sent this e-mail out. For those of you who haven't signed up, I figured this was an interesting read!

I plan to try to watch the race somehow, even if I have to find it online afterwards! I want to cheer on "Myositis Dan" as he helps spread awareness on the track!

"Dear Friend,

You may know that TMA asked several horse farms in Kentucky to consider including the word "myositis" in the names of racehorses to bring attention to our disease. Airdrie Stud's owner, Governor Brereton Jones, readily offered to help, as did Spendthrift Farm. Governor Jones included the word myositis in the names of three of his horses - Stop Myositis, Myositis Survivor, and Myositis Dan. Spendthrift named one of its horses Myositis Miracle.

Stop Myositis never made it to the races and Myositis Survivor and Myositis Miracle had brief racing careers.Myositis Dan, a 3-year-old colt, has shown considerable promise and will be racing this Sunday at Gulfstream Park in Florida. It will be the 5th race of his young career.

Should you be interested in watching his race you can do so numerous ways. The race is scheduled to run at 5:03 pm ET and can be seen on cable network HRTV (Horse Racing Television) or at many casinos, racetrack simulcast centers, off-track wager facilities, etc. nationwide and internationally.

Our hope is that we can create greater awareness of myositis as those watching and wagering on Dan's races hear and read the word "myositis" and take the time to learn what myositis is.

Let's hope Dan puts forth a good effort on Sunday and lots of people wonder what exactly is myositis?"
