Just like that, Ben’s Friends already has about a dozen new interns being trained in our brand new (“the virtual paint’s still drying”) Google classroom.
It was only a few months ago when we created: https://blog.bensfriends.org/bens-friends-brings-learning-about-patient-support-to-the-next-level/, an online training facility that makes use of Google Classroom: https://edu.google.com/products/classroom/?modal_active=none
to make learning about the moderator trade easy for moderators and interns.
It’s a learning curve for all of us: Seenie, TJ, and Lead Interns Arjuna and Danielle. But it feels great to already see our hard work paying off.
One by one, the interns are completing their orientation and training, and they are starting to reach out and welcome new members of our communities. It’s like a breath of fresh air!
The Ben’s Friends Internship program is intended to help students who hope to have a future in the medical field gain an understanding of what life is like for patients with rare diseases and conditions while improving their skills in communication and relating to others.
Interns’ responsibilities include greeting new members to our communities, monitoring community discussion and interaction, and helping members navigate and use the community site.
