CHEERS to Our Athletes!

Former Olympian, decorated figure skating champ, and brain aneurysm survivor Scott Hamilton is attributed with the quote: "The only disability in life is a bad attitude."

As the Olympics winds up, we saw athletes with rare diseases and conditions prove that adage to be true. Let us cheer these athletes who inspired us, especially those who overcame the challenges not just of the sport but of rare diseases as well.

Shannon Boxx, defensive middlefielder, US women's soccer team - She suffers from Lupus. The US women's team won gold.

Michael Phelps, captain, US swimming team - Michael overcame ADHD as a child. Widely touted as the most successful Olympian so far, with 22 medals (18 of them gold) in 3 Olympiads.

They offered us real inspiration to persevere despite adversities.

You may know of more athletes with rare diseases or overcame these.

How about sharing us their stories here?
